I love a good back yard wedding, and I was looking forward to the wedding of Emily and Kerwin all summer. We had an amazing engagement shoot earlier in the year and I knew that these two would really throw a great party and enjoy every minute of it. Then the storm rolled in. Some of you might remember the big summer wind storm that we had back in August. Well this was that day. I left two hours early to get to the house, and barely made it due to downed trees, powerless intersections, and the gridlock caused by it. It seemed like every road leading to the wedding was blocked by trees, and it seemed like it took forever, but I got there, and so did all the guests. The power was out, but generators were procured and the lights stayed on. The rain held off till literally (and I really mean literally) the moment when Emily and Kerwin kissed at the end of the ceremony. It was like magic. And then the skies opened up to a torrential downpour like I have never seen at any wedding in my life. Emily and Kerwin were champs. They had an amazing, beautiful, windy, rainy and loving day. The rain couldn’t douse the s’mores fire or the party. Everyone was dancing in the warm summer rain, and before I left, Emily and Kerwin jumped at my request for one more photo (ok, a few more photos) in the pouring rain. It was definitely a wedding I’ll remember forever; for the storm, for the heartfelt vibe, and for these two souls who are so perfect for each other. Thanks Emily and Kerwin!
